Lecture Series 2019/2020

Thank you for your interest in the Palm Beach County Anthropological Society (PBCAS).

Our 2019-2020 Lectures are presented on the last Thursday of the month at 6 pm. The only exception is the November lecture which will take place on November 21, the third Thursday (Happy Thanksgiving).

The Venue: The Summit Branch of the Palm Beach County Public Library- 3650 Summit Boulevard, West Palm Beach 33406.


Thursday November 21, 2019 at 6 PM:  Palm Beach Museum of Natural History Executive Director Rudy Pascucci will present: Florida Archaeology: A History.

December: NO LECTURE – Happy Holidays!!!!!!

Thursday January 30, 2020 at 6 PM: Bioanthropologist Dr. Meredith Ellis will present: The Children of Spring Street: The Bioarchaeology of Childhood in a 19th Century  Abolitionist Congregation in Lower Manhattan.

Thursday February 27 at 6 PM: Palm Beach County Archaeologist Christian Davenport will present: Down and Dirty: The Archaeology of Palm Beach County.


Thursday March 26 at 6 PM:  Archaeologist Odlanyer Hernandez de Lara will present: Florida Indians in Cuba: An Archaeological Project in Guanabacoa.

Thursday April 30 at 6 PM: Philosophy of Culture researcher Henry Calway will present: Dark Potentialities: The Structure and Function of American Narratives About Violence.

Thursday May 28 at 6 PM: Archaeologist Drew Schneider will present: A Critical Examination of Historic Accounts of Native Florida.
